Lawton Public Schools Reinstates Mask Mandate
Last Friday (09-10-21) LPS (Lawton Public Schools) announced that they would be reinstating their mask mandate effective today (09-13-21). LPS Superintendent Kevin Hime released a statement late last week that discussed and outlined the mask mandate and it's reinstatement
Mask Up if You’re Going to the OU or OSU Season Opener
It's here, the wait is almost over. The official kick off to college football happens this weekend. If you're planning a trip to Stillwater or Norman to be a part of the season openers for OU or OSU they've asked that you wear a face mask while indoors and encourage the use of masks while in the stadium itself.
When Will Lawton Repeal the Mask Mandate?
Last week Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas would be reopening 100% doing away with their mask mandate and other COVID-19 related restrictions. Yesterday (03-11-22) Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt issued an executive order that would remove any restrictions on live events across the state and he repealed the mask mandate for state buildings. Oklahoma never had a statewide mask mandate, instead it was left up to each individual county and city to decide what they wanted to do. Which Includes Lawton, Fort Sill.

There's been a lot of talk and speculation over the past several days about the possibility of more and more states, cities and counties lifting their mask mandates. The conversation started earlier this week when Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he plans on reopening the state 100% over the next couple of weeks. City of Lawton Asks Businesses For Help With the Mask Ordinance
The Lawton, Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce notified it's members today that the city of Lawton is requesting that all local and area businesses help with the new mask ordinance as much as possible. They aren't asking businesses to enforce the order, just assist with informing the public that the order is in place and that it needs to be followed. This along with signage at all entryways that a face mask is required.
City Of Lawton Will Require Face Masks At All Indoor Facilities Starting This Wednesday
The City of Lawton will mandate that face masks must be worn in all city owned or run indoor properties starting this Wednesday, July 15th 2020 (07-15-20). Some of the facilities that you will have to wear a mask to enter include: Lawton City Hall, Lawton Police and Fire Departments, The City Hall Annex building and any other indoor property that is owned and/or operated by the city of Lawton.
