In honor of National #HugAGIDay (3/4/19), I want to recognize and give huge hugs to all the service men and women (past, present & future) who go above and beyond the call of duty to protect our freedoms.

I ran across this story the other day about a 21 year Ohio man that worked toward his weight loss goal , and through hard work and perseverance attained his goal and joined the Army. It's truly is an inspiring story about setting a goal and through hard work achieving it.

On this Memorial Day it's our chance to stop, reflect and say thank you to all of the men and women currently serving and our veterans that have served in all branched of the military. They have fought to keep our country safe! On this day we remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice while defending our country.

For a third year in a roll, families with an active duty military member will be able to visit around 1,600 museums at no cost.  This is a program set up and run by Blue Star Museums and participation has almost doubled in the last year.

There is no better feeling than a student winning a grade school spelling bee contest! I should know because back in 4th grade I won the spelling bee contest at South Park Elementary. I got an awesome trophy spelling  the word ' vegetable' correctly. But 9-years-old Skylar Johnson from Boca Raton, FL got a far better prize for spelling the word 'Sergeant'.

Back in October of 2011 I ran across a video of a Military band preforming " Rolling In The Deep" by Adele and at the time no one knew the name of the band or it's lead singer. It took a few months for the identities of them to come out but the whole world now knows that it's U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Angie Johnson and Sidewinder.

It's that time of year again with the Christmas hustle and bustle and trying to get presents bought and wrapped and under the tree and then trying to get Christmas dinner cooked and on the table we often forget about those men and women that will not get a chance to shop or have a nice Christmas dinner with family and friends because they are thousands of miles away defending our freedom.
