Shark week is over, but the sharks don't care! This weekend professional surfer Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark while competing in the J. Bay Open Final in Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa. He managed to beat the shark off using his fists.

That's Sugar, the surf dog riding the biggest wave ever by a dog his size in a small dog surfing contest. It happened this weekend at Surf City Surf Dog -- a weekend-long event in Huntingdon Beach, California. Over the weekend 50 dogs took part in the seventh annual Loews’ Surf Dog competition. We’ve known dogs love to surf ever since the days of Spuds Mackenzie, but to see that many canines getting together to “hang ten” was quite a sight.

An extreme shark encounter was inadvertently caught on tape by Orlando Sentinel photographer Jacob Langston while he was filming a group of surfers at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. A four-foot spinner shark suddenly emerged from the water and did a barrel roll over an unsuspecting person. Totally gnarly, bro!
