Memorial Day weekend is one of, if not the busiest weekends at the lake. Everyone wants to get out of the house and spend some quality time outdoors and hopefully grilling out. It's the perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy the holiday weekend. Both Lake Lawtonka and Ellsworth will be very popular places to spend Memorial Day weekend this year. If you're planning on a trip to one of Lawton's lakes the City of Lawton has some saftey reminders for you and some general rules you'll need to follow while at the lake. Hard to believe Memorial Day weekend is almost here and unlike last year we'll actually get to go out and enjoy it!

Lawton Splash Pads and Wading Pools to Reopen Soon!
The City of Lawton just announced that they plan on re-opening all the splash pads and wading pools over the next couple of weeks. Lawton has 2 splash pads and 3 wading pools, along with a public pool. The first to open will be the splash pads, those open back up on Saturday, May 21st (05-22-21). The wading pools will reopen on Tuesday, May 25th (05-25-21) same for the Lawton Public pool.

It's starting to get warmer and warmer outside and before you know it we'll be heading to the lakes for some Summer fun. We're actually seeing a Spring this year as temperatures slowly rise. Normally we go from cold to hot with no gradual change, but this year it's been nice to have those 70's and 80's before it gets really hot.

This is one cool dog, literally! We've been waiting for Summer and the heat to get here after all the rains. It finally shown up, with a vengeance. With temperatures in the 100's anyway you can cool off is welcomed. For the first time in history, a swimmer has endured the 103-mile route from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida, without the assistance of a shark cage. That swimmer, 64-year-old Diana Nyad, began her quest on Saturday, August 31, and finished around 53 hours later on Labor Day.
