Hot Wheels Gets Big
The Hot Wheels brand, along with sponsor IZOD, will show off their 10-story-high track on May 29th in the infield of the speedway. A driver from Team Hot Wheels, a newly-created stunt driving group, will pilot a race car down the 90-foot-long ramp, which should surely impress millions of Hot Wheels fans both young and old.
In addition, the crew will attempt to break the world record jump in a four-wheeled vehicle, which currently stands at 302 feet.
As you can imagine, there is a great amount of planning, fabrication and preparation involved in pulling this stunt off. The folks at Wired have posted a video below with behind-the-scenes footage include interviews, shots of the ramp and a practice run with a real race-truck that looks cool enough to be shrunk down, packaged and displayed alongside other Hot Wheels at a toy store.
The “IZOD Presents Hot Wheels Fearless at the 500” stunt is part of the brand’s multi-platform campaign “designed to extend the Hot Wheels experience past childhood, capturing the attention of fans of all ages,” the company said in a statement. It’s also the latest “larger-than-life” stunt attempted by Team Hot Wheels and we can’t imagine how they would top this. A loopty-loop perhaps? Regardless of what they do next, we can’t wait the see this jump and future stunts they have in store.
