Who will follow in the footsteps of Drake, who dominated the competition at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards? It's time to find out.

The annual show, which honors the year's top-selling artists, announced its crop of 2018 nominees Thursday (April 17), and it looks like it's gonna be a tight race between Ed Sheeran and Kendrick Lamar for top honors.

Twelve-time Billboard Music Awards winner and 17-time nominee Kelly Clarkson has been tapped to host the show, which will broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 20. It's the first time the show will air on NBC.
