When it comes to state fairs, Oklahoma has always done theirs in a big way. Everyone gets two weekends to make it out, but the weekday crowds are usually just as big. As always, one of the big attractions is the row of fair food vendors, and since they're all competing for your hangry dollars, the options are decadent and weird.

There are typical festival things to choose from... Gyros, funnel cakes, and corn dogs, but the weird twist every food vendor puts on the classics makes the headlines. 2022 is no different, and it appears the Oklahoma State Fair will walk on the primal side of life this time around.

Here's a quick rundown of the new savory and exotic food options:

Snake Bite Nachos - Nachos with rattlesnake sausage and hot "venom" sauce.
Alligator Corn Dog - Exactly what it sounds like.
Guilty Mac & Cheese - A mac dish with pulled pork and a bbq sauce drizzle.
Rattlesnake Corn Dog - Yeah, it's getting weird.
Pickle Pizza - Exactly what it sounds like... Likely hit or miss.
Loaded Hot Cheeto French Fries - Probably a Zoomer dish.
Ghost Pepper Tator Tots - Not for the faint-hearted.
Chicken Bacon Ranch Waffle Sticks - Who puts ranch on a waffle?
Elk Sausage Corn Dog - and that totally redeems the snake corn dog option...

The desserts aren't as adventurous, but they do sound pretty amazing:

Apple Pie Churros
Deep Fried Blueberry Pie with Ice Cream
Freeze-Dried Everything - Skittles, taffy, fruit, etc...
Deep Fried Cookie Dough
These are just the new desserts... you'll still be able to find deep-fried twinkies, oreos, and other typical sweet fair options

Nobody ever talks about the unique drinks at the fair, but 2022 is the year of frozen everything. They've got Icey/Slushy-type flavors of everything, even the sweet tea. Add in a scoop of ice cream and any number of hard and gummy candies, one sip is enough to be haunted by Wilford Brimley's ghost.

One big lacking option this year is the smorgasbord of corn options because it's never been so popular.

There are more new foods on the official OK State Fair list, but some just don't make the headlines others do... Like deep-fried spaghetti and meatballs... It sounds interesting, but who orders spaghetti when they're out to eat? It's literally the cheapest meal in the world to enjoy at home.

Here's the press release.
