Time Is Running Out To Help A Child In Oklahoma This Christmas

Every year, the Salvation Army in Oklahoma does their best to make everyone's Christmas a memorable; including families who may not be able to afford gifts or for children not living with their familes. You'd be surprised at who you're helping by simpling buying a few gifts for someone special. And time is just about to run out to make a difference.

Usually, you'll find a Salvation Army Angel Tree in your busiest shopping areas or grocery stores. These trees are usually adorned with tags, listing just a few things about the "angel" you're shopping for. This year, some angels are not just children, but seniors are included as well.

The Salvation Army is also the one who stations "ringers" at the door of many shopping centers like Ross, Walmart and more. The funds that they raise also help to cover the cost of the toys and gifts the Salvation Army purchases for their children. According to one of the Captains of the Lawton Salvation Army, Tracy Brinlee, “What the community doesn’t buy, the Salvation Army has to buy and so we can’t do it without the support of the community."

Deadlines For Oklahoma's Angel Trees Quickly Approaching

The last day for some Angel Trees is quickly approaching. December 10 is the cutoff date in Oklahoma City, while Lawton's location has already closed for the season. Click here for a list of locations of Angel Trees in your area that you can participate in.

If you don't see a Salvation Army Angel Tree, there are usually similar trees at local senior living homes, assisted living homes and retirement homes. If you'd like to help children specifically, reach out to your local CASA group to help foster children or ask your local family shelter to help others.
