Applications are Now Open for the 2022 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year

The Oklahoma State Department of Education has announced that the eligibility for the next Teacher of the Year has expanded!  Beginning with this years candidates, Teachers of the Year from every school site in Oklahoma will be allowed to apply for this Award.  In years past, the Teacher of the Year was selected from a limited pool of district Teachers of the Year.

I have a group of friends and my sister who teach.  I can tell you first hand how much time in spent getting ready to educate the children and adolescents in Lawton/Fort Sill.  Not just time in preparation, but time in continuing education and expanding skills to be able to stay on the cutting edge of education.  This is not a job for the faint of heart.  This is a calling.  I believe wholeheartedly that each of these teacher friends and sisters should be chosen as Teachers of the Year.

Yes, I know it's an application process, and that there are supporting documents and that you have to have chosen as your school's Teach of the Year to be eligible for the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year honor, but I truly believe that each teacher is worthy of honor.

This change in eligibility for OK Teacher of the Year is meant to bring a broader of teachers from across the state and to ensure that exceptional OK teachers are eligible for recognition especially in districts that don't have a district level teacher of the year.
