Ariana Grande embarks on her massive Sweetener world tour today (March 18), and as she rehearsed over the weekend the pop star shared a photo with her Instagram followers that showcased some new ink. When she was with Pete Davidson, the couple got a handful of tattoos together during their whirlwind romance. Her new tattoo is a branch with leaves surrounding the word "Always" on her rib cage — one of the many tats she got during her short relationship with the comedian. However, she insists the transformation is not a cover up, and says as much in the photo's caption.

"post run thrus, 3 am with @girlknewyork :) not a cover up just evolvin  also, our show opens tomorrow. i love u and i’m so grateful. see u soon," she wrote alongside the photo.

Though this one may be evolution, Ari has covered up plenty of Pete-inspired ink since the two broke off their engagement last year. She replaced her ex-fiancé's name on her finger with a black heart, the word "reborn" on her thumb with a feather, and her tribute to his dad with a tribute to Mac Miller's dog. The Saturday Night Live star has also been covering up tattoos he got with the singer, including transforming her signature bunny ears into a black heart, and replacing the words "mille tendresse" with "CURSED," on his neck. Ouch.
