Sometimes you just want to hit the dance floor with friends and dance the night away. But where in Oklahoma can you bust a move? Luckily, you can find five exciting dance halls in Oklahoma.

Even though the list is an incredibly short one, Oklahoma is still fortunate enough to have a few places that don't just give you a pretty dance floor to spin on - some even have a bull riding arena feet away from the dancers (if you know, you know).

No Matter Where You Want To Go, It's A Drive

Depending on where you live in Oklahoma, you could actually have it better than you realize. Since Texas is technically the state with the most dance halls in the country, living right next to the Texas border gives you a few more options if you're willing to drive. But as far as the ones in Oklahoma, there are only a few and far between.

Where To Dance in Oklahoma, Outside of the Dancehalls

But don't let the lack of dance halls stop you - there are still plenty of places to dance and new opportunities coming this year.

Back in 2023, a group near Oklahoma City wanted to get more people of all ages involved in dancing. Now, there is a monthly meeting in Scissortail Park for any and all dancers to come and learn new steps, practice the old ones and make new connections over their shared love of dancing.

If you're interested in joining the monthly fun, you'll want to become part of the Country Dancing Oklahoma Facebook page, where updates are posted.

Another all ages option for families and friends to get dressed up and dance the night away has been a long running tradition in Cooperton, Purcell and Duncan, Oklahoma. Every Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., the tiny town of Coopertown livens up with live music and dancers on the "best dance floor in Oklahoma."

Unlike the dancehalls listed below, the Cooperton dance does not allow alcohol so that they can include families and children in the fun. Instead, they throw a potluck at the same time and support the Wichita Valley band who plays for the dance on Friday nights. Sometimes, the dance is hosted on a different night, but if you'd like updates, you'll want to join the Cooperton Dance Facebook page.

This year, southwest Oklahoma is expected to gain a new family-friendly dance opportunity. Thanks to the Stoney Point Center (the old Stoney Point School), live music will be happening nearly every Saturday night and the dance floor is currently being prepped right now.

After speaking with the Treasurer and Public Relations representative for the Wichita Mountains Area Senior Citizens Center, Tom Spears, he informed me that they're hoping to have the center and dances ready to start before the end of January. Because it's ran by the Senior Center, though, they are not allowing alcohol at the dance, similarly to what they do at Cooperton.

If you're wanting to party and dance, with or without a date, your best bet is the visit these dance halls in Oklahoma.
