We listened to advice from local Lawtonians who've spent many-a-years trick-or-treating in town, while also comparing the safest neighborhoods in Lawton. These are areas with less crime rates that have a great history of dishing out good candy on Halloween, and a lot of it.
Halloween night falls on Friday, October 31 this year. Although many of the rules are the same as previous years, there is still important information for parents and trick-or-treaters to be aware of before the holiday arrives.

It's no secret that Lawton has a bit of a reputation, but the good news is that things usually go pretty smoothly on Halloween each year. But it never hurts to spend the evening in some of the safest neighborhoods while trick-or-treating.
According to Nextdoor.com, some of Lawton's top neighborhoods are:
- The Wichita Mountain Estates
- Sullivan Village
- Pecan Valley South
These neighborhoods are usually well-maintained, clean, and residents are generally friendly. Another source, crimegrade.org, says that many of the areas with least amount of overall crime are many neighborhoods on the outer edges of town, like the area between 67th and 82nd streets, south of Quannah Parker Trailway.

Keep in mind that if you intend on traveling to another neighborhood for Halloween this year, you will want to look up the addresses and information beforehand.
Also remember that these areas take pride in caring for their neighborhood and trick-or-treaters should do the same by respecting lawns and property, picking up trash, and being mindful of porch lights that are turned off.
What will Halloween look like in Lawton, Oklahoma this year?
This year, residential trick-or-treating is scheduled for Friday, October 31, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The streets may be a little less crowded since there are multiple Halloween events happening, local high school events, and trunk-or-treats taking place everywhere.
There are also a few things that may look a little different, like some trick-or-treaters using teal pumpkins to carry their candy. But the same general rules still apply:
