"Twisters" was the blockbuster of the summer this year, especially in Oklahoma. And now the original from 1996, "Twister," will return to the big screen after 28 years for the 4DX experience.
Recently, Prairie Surf Media out of Oklahoma City, which hosted some of the production for "Twisters," released data on how the filming of "Twisters" positively impacted Oklahoma.
In "Twisters," Oklahoma is experiencing a huge tornado outbreak. And when the cast and crew was in Oklahoma filming in 2023, it was during storm season, so a real storm interfering with set was bound to happen.
"Twisters" hit theaters this weekend, and focused on tornadic weather in Oklahoma. During the blockbuster film's opening weekend, a town in southwest Oklahoma was struck by a severe storm causing significant damage to homes, businesses and various other structures.
As thousands of Oklahomans made their way to theaters this weekend to see "Twisters," several saw the film at a movie theater that famously survived an EF-5 tornado.
