Last year, thousands of people had worked so hard to get their little running man to the end of the line (if you know, you know) and get tickets to what they thought would be the very first show for Oklahoma's own Cross Canadian Ragweed in over a decade.

After one show eventually became four to accomodate the demand in Oklahoma, folks started to get really excited for the occasion. However, it seems as though this series of concerts in April won't technically be the first "reunion" for the band.

Cross Canadian Ragweed Plays First Show in 15 Years in Key West Florida

Last week, Cross Canadian Ragweed played an impromptu performance at the Mile 0 Fest in Key West, Florida. In a follow up post about the performance, Cody Canada explained that, although they were not supposed to perform, they just couldn't wait. The band got up at the "love fest" and played six songs together. They shared their thoughts on the experience, saying "Negativity cannot diminish the joy we felt Thursday night."

Canada released a video reacting to some of the responses to their six song surprise in Florida, reminding upset fans that they sold "183,000 tickets for 183,000 people that want to see us play music" and that's exactly what they did last Thursday night.

Reactions & Responses To Cross Canadian Ragweed's First Show Since Hiatus

The overwhelming support for the band was apparent in comments and responses to the post, especially in light of the band family's recent loss, JC Ragsdale.

Many folks understood that the chance to be on stage together again is special, no matter where it is. Majority of the comments were peppered with positivity, saying things like:

"The selfishness of some people…real fans are happy you guys have found your way back to each other and hopefully some peace in that. Even if you don’t play another show after April some kind of healing went into getting to where you are now. However I do hope to see a small tour coming later in ‘25."

Many commentors were happy to see the band making something happen sooner than the big reunion, saying: "....some of us are actually glad y'all got on stage in front of a crowd before April..! Its just gonna make April that much better...!"

Some Fans Upset At Losing This Opportunity

Some folks, on the other hand, are upset at the fact that the chance to witness the very first show for Cross Canadian Ragweed was not going to happen at the shows in April. One commentor wrote:

"I am allowed to feel sad the first time you actually play a show together, 6 songs or not, wasn’t at the show I waited 4 hours to buy tickets to. I was around for you guys the last time and have missed you for 15 years. You take your music away from us, promise a 1 time reunion concert then take that away too. Don’t get me wrong, still love you and am so sorry for your loss. Just stings a little, ok maybe a lot."

Another frustrated Cross Canadian Ragweed fan responded to the band's first show back, saying "so we waited online for hours for 3 days just for them to play all together again for the first time in key west?!?! stupid!"

Admittedly, finding negative comments about the performance was much harder to do than finding supportive, understanding ones. But what is your take on the performance? Should the very first time have been reserved for the April concerts?
