Do You Pull Internet Pranks on Your Friends? — Survey of the Day

The Internet hasn't just changed the way we gather information, communicate and share videos of cats battling printers. It also gives pranksters a completely new venue to do their worst.

But are practical jokers giving up the whoopee cushion for more digital nefariousness? According to a survey of 2000 18- to 24-year-olds by the confectioners Maynards, 40 percent are now more likely to pull technology-aided pranks than traditional ones.

Overall, the most popular prank is jumping out at somebody, followed by the classic prank call. Next up are two more newfangled pranks: changing a friend's Facebook status when he leaves his account open, and "photobombing" one of his pictures.

Seventy-four percent of the men and 61 percent of the women surveyed admitted to pulling pranks of some type.
