Fort Sill Closing Out Summer With Pool Event For The Public & Pets
It's so sad to think that the summer is so close to being over. But before the summer does wrap up, it looks like Fort Sill is opening up one of their pools to everyone - including the pups.
On Sunday, September 21, Ruff Land Performance Kennels is hosting the "Dog Days of Summer" at the Quinette Outdoor Pool. The event is open to the public and completely free. Don't forget the most important guest: your dog!
The pool will be open for the pups to use before they clean it out and close it for the season. They'll also have contests for the animals, like the Best Water Fetch, Laziest Sun Bather and the Biggest Splash and prizes for the winners.
Do you need a real I.D. to attend the Dog Days of Summer?
Earlier this year, Real I.D.s were required to have in order to get onto Fort Sill. The policy is still in place and visitors should be prepared to have their Real I.D. You can still get onto base without one, but it requires a bit more paperwork.
Per the statement listed on the Fort Sill Visitor Welcome Center website:
"All individual seeking access to Fort Sill are required to present a REAL ID - compliant form of identification, even if they possess an approved visitors pass.
In accordance with the Department of Defense policy and federal regulations, individuals without a REAL ID must present a valid secondary form of government-issued photo identification."
Instead of having a REAL ID, you should be allowed to use an up-to-date passport and a standard I.D.

Though they may not say it, we all know to leave the demon dogs at home.
There doesn't seem to be any requirements on shot records or training for the dogs they're inviting out to the party. But we can all agree that aggressive, badly-behaved animals should sit this one out.
But if you've got a water-loving critter who may or may not know a thing or two, then bring them out for the last fun in the sun event at the Quinnette pool on September 21.
