This year is very special year for one of Oklahoma's small towns gone big. Not only did the Elgin Owls manage to make it once again to the state championships in football, but now the entire town is showing their school spirit. And it's proof that Elgin might just be the most spirited town in the state.

Elgin Owls Off To State Championships This Weekend After Undefeated Season

This year, Elgin High School's football team has had such a successful season that has gotten them another chance to walk away with the state championship title. Although the team has made it to the playoffs, this is the first time they've made it to the semi-finals and now all the way to state.

They've currently went an entire undefeated season and have high expectations to end the season the same way.

Elgin's Mayor, JJ Francias, has been reaching out to the community to encourage everyone to join in celebrating their hard work.

Earlier this week, he posted an invitation on Facebook, saying "More updates will follow: WARNING! Next Saturday around 8:30am it will be impossible to sleep in Elgin. Timelines will be posted later this week."

He continued, "Elgin Fire & Police and trucks from many departments around Comanche County not to mention hundreds of fans will be on hand to send our amazing football team off to State in style and noise!"

Since then, Elgin's businesses and citizens have been decorating their homes, their marquees and even their fences.

Not only are people decorating and planning on a massive send off for these kiddos, but the Mayor has been putting some high expectations on filling the stands in Edmond on Saturday.

He set the bars high for Elgin, saying "12,000 that is the capacity of the Bronco’s stadium at UCO. I know Elgin will make a strong showing there to support our team! Be sure to bring your horns, jugs, bells and noise makers! Let’s get LOUD! The game is at 1pm Saturday!"

Elgin has had a history of filling the stands both at home and away games, so I highly doubt they'll let the team down on the biggest game of the 2024 season.

State Championship Game Info And Send Off
