Exciting Summer Events You Need to Attend in Oklahoma

Oklahoma summers are fun for the strong and rough for the weary. For those that don't mind the heat, there are several "must see" events throughout the state that you truly cannot miss.

Rocklahoma - August 30 - September 1, 2024

There is no rock music festival in the world that is quite like the annual Rocklahoma festival. This year in Pryor, Oklahoma, they are celebrating another year head-banging to some of the best hard-rock artists in the state. Blues Ball - August 31 - September 2, 2024

Music in Medicine Park is sacred. Festivals are always scrapbook-worthy in the tiny town, but the blues ball is an experience all of its own. Happening late August, early September, the annual Blues Ball headlines bands from across the country and brings vendors of all kinds to line the streets of Medicine Park for the three-day festival.

Okie Noodle Tournament - Pauls Valley

Inspired by a documentary from 2021, this festival awards the best of the best in the Oklahoma tradition of noodling or catching catfish by hand by using your hand as bait. There are different categories of catfish (i.e. largest, longest, smallest, etc.) that competitors can win cash for, bands performing, food and much more.

Jazz in June - Norman - June 13 -15, 2024

The largest jazz festival in the state happens in the true "classy" capital of Oklahoma: Norman.

Rush Springs Watermelon Festival - August 10, 2024

Rush Springs is one of the small towns doing big things - hence the reason they host one of the most well-known festivals in Oklahoma.

Woody Fest - July 10 - 14, 2024

Folk music lovers from all over the country travel to attend the Woodie Guthrie Festival, more commonly known as Woody Fest. Blackberry Festival - July 12 - 13, 2024

Since the early 1940's, McLoud has been celebrating what was once their most lucrative crop, the blackberry. Over the years, the community perfected their harvest and event sent a crate to President Harriet Truman in 1949, which he admitted were "the best he had ever had." At that point, he declared McLoud to be the "Blackberry Capital of the World" and the town continues to celebrate the harvest season each July.
