No one should have to experience a truly empty Christmas because their budget just couldn't stretch far enough. Between the shutdown, rising costs, and limited pay raises, this holiday season is proving to be a strenuous one for most families in Oklahoma.

Luckily, there are incredibly generous people in our small town communities that see a need and want to fill it. In a tiny little town called Fletcher, Oklahoma, local churches, businesses, and individuals have helped bring back the annual Christmas store.

This isn't just your typical store, however. Here, they're just trying to "sell" the gift of giving. The toys and gifts are all free, perfect for parents who are struggling to afford presents this year.

Fletcher Christmas store returns in 2025 with brand new toys and gifts for families.

Each year, small towns in Oklahoma usually host seasonal toy drives to donate toys and gifts to local organizations like the Salvation Army, or to a local Angel tree. Fletcher community members are doing something similar by allowing families in need to "shop" for brand new toys, donated by others in the area.

The opportunity is arranged by appointments only, and those interested should sign up at the Fletcher Food Pantry (ask for Brandon), at Fletcher City Hall, or with the program director, Heather Price. More information can be found on the Fletcher Christmas Store Facebook page.

Fletcher's Christmas store will be set up at the Fletcher Community Center at 504 Cole Ave. in Fletcher, Oklahoma, on Monday, December 15, until Thursday, December 18. Right now, they're preparing for the event by asking the community for donations.

Fletcher & surrounding communities urged to donate toys for the Christmas store.

Since they're preparing things for the store now, they're asking for community members to begin donating their toys for the store. They are specifically asking for:

  • Barbie Dolls
  • Puzzles
  • Legos
  • Cologne/Perfume sets
  • Cars and Hot Wheels
  • Stuffed animals
  • Fishing gear
  • Card games and board games
  • Nerf Guns
  • Headphones
  • Footballs and basketballs

Please make sure that the toys are brand new, unopened, and unwrapped. "Every gift - big or small - helps bring joy to a child this Christmas," Brandon Dunn said. Toys can be dropped off at the Fletcher City Hall or any Fletcher church.

They are currently also accepting volunteers to help wrap the gifts on select days. Whether you're an expert gift wrapper, or someone who probably uses more tape than wrapping paper, they're eager to have the help. To sign up, reach out to the Fletcher Christmas store at (580) 585 - 0885.
