Important Things Not to Forget for Your Celebration in Oklahoma
Don't get caught with these things commonly forgotten about when you're celebrating with your family and friends this Independence Day.
Condiments
Actually several condiments don't need to be refrigerated, like yellow mustard and ketchup, but it's still important to pay attention to the expiration dates and if it's in usable condition. If you're running low, best to buy a new one to be on the safe side. Especially don't forget the most popular condiment: mayo.
Bugspray & Sunscreen
Since celebrations are almost always outdoors, you have to have bugspray and sunscreen. Although many Oklahomans are used to the sun, it doesn't make it any less dangerous. Sunscreen may seem like a bother, but your body will thank you later (when it isn't peeling).
Lighter/Lighter Fluid
What good are fireworks if you can't light them? Or how useful if your grill without the ability to actually cook the food? Although you can use your dollar lighter for just about anything else, the best type of lighter for fireworks is the windproof gas lighter.
Emergency Kit for Burns
Knock on wood, we hope everything goes as smoothly as planned. But any time you mix fire with wind and alcohol, many times the combination doesn't have a good outcome. In fact, in 2009, Oklahoma had a horrible year for burn victims and even two deaths due to fireworks devices.
Proper Flag Etiquette
As we're celebrating, it's important for everyone to remember what you should and should not do with our nation's flag. Here's a helpful hint for attending parades or celebrations and knowing when and how to salute our flag.
We hope your celebrations are the best of all, remember to be safe and not to drink and drive!
