Local Photographers Offer Free Portraits For Families This Fall
I remember the days where finding a place to get family photos and back-to-school portraits wasn't hard at all. All you had to do was get the family done up and head to the local mall, where photographers were already set up. Unfortunately, now everyone thinks they can just snap a pic on their phone.
While it's convenient and always free, it doesn't always turn out well. Let's face it - not everyone knows how to use the Portrait modes or effects on their cellphone cameras. And usually, photography sessions can be a little pricy.
But thankfully, a local photography group has decided to donate their skills to the Lawton/Fort Sill community for the third year in a row to give everyone some gorgeous, quality family photos for no cost at all.
The 3rd Annual Family Photo Day At The Lawton Public Library.
On Saturday, October 4, the folks from Through Movement Photography will set up their cameras and a portrait area at the Lawton Public Library. They will be offering free family portraits from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for families who previously register, appointments are required.
Registration opens on September 17, 2025 at 6 p.m. and there will be limited slots available. To register for the opportunity (when registration opens), click here.
Family photo event perfect for Christmas cards, capturing fall memories or just coming as you are.
They'll have three different backdrops available for families to choose from. If your family loves the fall, they'll have the perfect "front porch" look with gorgeous pumpkins of nearly all shapes and sizes lining the front of an ornate, elegant white door.
Families can also use the Lawton Family Photo day to prep those Christmas cards with a backdrop adorned with Christmas trees, wreaths and garlands perfectly positioned over the classic red barn doors.
For those who may not want to do themed photos or know what every will be wearing, they'll also have a gorgeous, neutral backdrop that will go with anything!
Who is Through Movement Photography?
What started as a passion for capturing their family's precious moments eventually became a business in the market for doing just that for other families in Oklahoma.
Owners Trey and Tonya Ellis traveled with their children around Lawton, photographing important events and activities they were doing since 2017. Eventually, they realized that their gift could be shared with the rest of the Lawton community. So, they decided to start offering their services to families here, especially those with lower income.
