Top Complaints Lawton Drivers Have About Local Gas Stations

Within the last week, I've noticed more sold-out or broken gas pumps than I have working ones in Lawton. There's honestly nothing worse than pulling up to a pump, realizing it's out of order, then trying to find another before someone else takes your spot.

But it isn't just broken pumps we need to start seeing more of. Lawton's gas stations could use some refreshers and revamps in many areas that would likely incentivise drivers to do more than just grab gas and leave.

Based on internet searches and personal opinions from locals, here are the top things Lawton drivers wish they would see differently at the gas stations here in town.

The good news is that Oklahoma is actually the state with the least expensive fuel in the country, according to stacker.com. But Lawton happens to be the town with the 4th-highest fuel prices in the state.

Now, we realize that gas prices aren't solely based on the gas stations themselves. But here's what most drivers know that gas stations can and should change.

Slow or broken pumps
Free air machines (seriously, what happened to these?), or working air machines

Receipt printers at the pump
Dirty or closed bathrooms
Overflowing trashcans

If gas stations make (on average) around $1.3 million a year, surely they can find some room in the budget to fix a few things, clean up more efficiently, and make sure that drivers who need a receipt can get one without having to go all the way inside the store.

Depending on where you are in Oklahoma, there are gas station chains specific to that area. For the most part, they all have their own niche and stay to their respective boundaries. Some are better than others, some are absolutely loathed. The question remains, as we wait on Buc-ees to make an entrance to the Oklahoma travel center landscape, can any of these brands hold a candle to the Texas giant?
