‘Ghostbusters’ International Trailer: More Ghosts! More Footage! More Chris Hemsworth!
Less than a week after the first full Ghostbusters trailer, there’s now a second trailer. An international trailer! All the characters speak exotic languages! (Okay, not really, they all speak English.) But, hey there’s a lot more Chris Hemsworth in this trailer! He’s from Australia! That’s international! (Plus Thor’s from Asgard, which would technically make this the intergalactic trailer.)
Let’s just call it like it is; this whole domestic/international trailer thing is just a way to get folks like me to post twice as many commercials for the same movies. And it worked! Cause there’s the Ghostbusters international trailer up above.
Reaction to the first Ghostbusters trailer was mixed, and not just from cranky dudes who believe that this remake of the beloved 1984 horror-comedy classic represents a threat to the unfairer sex. Amongst the complaints, the loudest were about the tone (too much comedy, because I guess comedies shouldn’t be funny or have jokes or whatever) and about Leslie Jones as Patty. This trailer definitely dials back her part (although she does get a funny moment at the very end) while ratcheting up the Hemsworth factor (he plays the team’s “nerdy” receptionist). Either way, my favorite is still Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann, the team’s eccentric inventor in the style of the late Harold Ramis’ Egon Spengler. She even kinda looks like the Egon of the Real Ghostbusters animated series. But, y’know, with more proton gun licking.
Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters opens in theaters on July 15.
