Uniquely Colored Kitten Found Stuck In Summer Heat in Oklahoma
Out of all of the kittens in Oklahoma, there's little to none with this coat color we've just spotted. A local animal rescue, Rainbow Bridge Can Wait, shared the news about one of their newest and youngest fosters. This kitten isn't just incredibly young, but it's very uniquely marked.
It and it's his four other siblings are currently being bottle fed and soon to be scheduled to see the veterinarian. Unfortunately, things have been difficult for three of the litter, including the crazy-coated kitten. The rescue is simply asking for positive thoughts as the kittens hopefully grow and get stronger.
This color pattern isn't often seen, but it's different than the unique half-and-half pattern that other cats have. Is this another case of chimera or another thing entirely?

The fact that these kittens have held on this long is nothing less than a miracle. According to Rainbow Bridge Rescue Coordinator, Carol Skinner, these kittens were found so young they even had their umbilical cords.
On July 18, Caddo County Deputy Schmidt reached out to Skinner, asking if they could take in any bottle babies. They were found without their mother anywhere nearby, stuck in between the skid plate and engine of a vehicle.
Although Skinner managed to find a foster initially, the foster felt uncomfortable and within an hour, they were moved to a second foster. Now, their current foster is doing her best to keep the kittens going until they can get their first vet visit on Wednesday, August 6.

Unfortunately, one of the heartbreaking realities of the situation is that, because these kittens were so young and because some of them have been struggling with feeding, there's a possibility that not all of them will make it to the vet visit.
"The one in question is aspirating and only taking 3 mL," Skinner told us about our colorful companion. She included that two others are also struggling with taking the bottle, so the foster is feeding by eye droppers.
"Amber (bottle feeder) said she didn’t know if all of them would make it," Skinner said. "I told her a chance is better than no chance at all."
If these kittens do make it, it will be interesting to see how the half-and-half kitten grows into his color coating. Seeing a cat with two different markings usually comes from a genetic makeup called Chimera. Typically, cats with this condition have two colors, split down the center of their face.
Although we don't know for sure if the color pattern is related to the kitten having chimera or not, we're hoping that they all survive and grow to be colorful kittens.
