Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s young Han Solo movie won’t arrive in theaters until 2018, which means we have quite a bit of time before we see anything concrete from the Star Wars spinoff. Lucasfilm hasn’t even announced who will play the young version of Harrison Ford’s iconic character — much less who or what else we might see in the film. We now know of at least one other character who will appear opposite whoever ends up piloting the Millennium Falcon, and it’s a friendly, furry face you’ll be quite happy to see.

During an investor call, Disney chief Bob Iger spoke briefly of the Star Wars franchise, and in addition to confirming the plot of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Wrap reports that Iger briefly touched on the young Han Solo movie. The exec described the film as “an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy,” noting that it arrives in theaters the year after Star Wars: Episode VIII, in 2018. Reiterating what he said in a previous investor call, Iger added, “…there’ll be possibly be more thereafter,” referring to the continuation of the franchise after Episode IX.

So not only will we see young Han Solo sometime before the events of A New Hope, we’ll also get to see a younger Chewbacca and his origins, presumably exploring how Han and Chewy came to be the lovable smuggling duo. Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to select an actor for the role of Han, but back in January we learned that the studios had narrowed their massive list of hopefuls down to 12 names, including Miles Teller, Dave Franco, Ansel Elgort, Logan Lerman, Scott Eastwood and Jack Reynor.

Gareth EdwardsRogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16. Rian Johnson’s Episode VIII arrives in 2017, followed by Lord and Miller’s young Han Solo movie in 2018. Colin Trevorrow will round out the new trilogy with Episode IX in 2019, while a third Star Wars Story project remains without a director following Josh Trank’s exit last summer.
