Holy City Of The Wichitas Starting Sign Ups For Easter Pageant
Every Easter, southwest Oklahoma hosts what used to be one of the largest events that drew thousands of people to the Holy City. The Easter Pageant is one of the longest-ran traditions in Oklahoma and this year, the show must go on. Even with snow still covering the steps, they're still beginning the planning process on February 1.
Starting Sunday, February 1, 2026, volunteers can start signing up for the Pageant. It takes a lot of people to make this show happen every year, and it still draws a big crowd each spring.
If you've never visited the Holy City of the Wichitas, or volunteered as part of the Easter Pageant, here's how you can help.
No experience needed for any of the parts in the Holy City Easter Pageant.
The Easter Pageant doesn't just happen on Easter - they perform the show multiple weekends in April. Which means the more people they have to participate, the better. All of the spots are currently available, including actors in specific scenes, crowd actors, behind-the-scenes assistants, and a male speaker to narrate the evenings.
If you have horses, or donkeys, or mules, you can also volunteer to have them ridden in the shows. They do require specific tests, health certificates, and vaccines in order to be brought onto the refuge, but they make the experience come to life even more.

People who have previously volunteered for the Pageant have nothing but great things to say about their experience, which says something about how it has been ran for so many years. "I remember being an [angel] in the arch way at 15, it was the most amazing thing I had ever done," one person shared.
If an event like this sounds like something you'd be interested in, visit the Holy City of the Wichitas on Sunday, February 1, starting at 1 p.m. to sign up. You can also learn more about the pageant and the Holy City by following their social media.
