
Lawton Prepares To Salute Our Heroes This Armed Forces Day
Lawton will celebrate active-duty personnel during the annual Armed Forces Day Parade on Saturday, May 16! The parade will take place in downtown Lawton, and the parade is currently seeking more parade entries.
This year's Armed Forces Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16 and will go through downtown Lawton. The parade will line up in the parking lot of Central Plaza and will make its way west on C Avenue and then north on 11th Street. The parade will end at Elmer Thomas Park.
Parade entries are still being accepted for Lawton's Armed Forces Day Parade.
The annul Armed Forces Day Parade is hosted by the Lawton Fort Sill Convention and Visitors Bureau. The bureau is still accepting entries for this year's parade. Parade entries can be local businesses, organizations, schools, churches, sports teams, community groups and more.
Below are the fees to be a part of the Armed Forces Day Parade:
- $30 - Businesses, Car Clubs, Tractor Clubs, and Horse Clubs
- $20 - Nonprofits
- Free - School Organizations
- Free - Police, Fire, and Ambulance Departments
Those who wish to be a part of this year's Armed Forces Day parade are encouraged to sign up online.

What is Armed Forces Day?
Lawton is proud to be the home of the U.S. Army base Fort Sill. And on Armed Forces Day, we get to take the day to honor our local active-duty personnel. Armed Forces Day is a nationally recognized day across the United States. The third Saturday in May is always marked as Armed Forces Day, and is a day that honors active-duty personnel of all branches.
