
April Storms Kick Off With Hail And High Winds
April is one of the busiest months of severe storms in Oklahoma, and it's kicking off the first day of the month. Severe storms and tornadoes are both on tap for most of the state on Wednesday, April 1 and into Thursday, April 2.
Portions of southwest, central and northern Oklahoma are at an enhanced risk for severe weather on Wednesday. All modes of severe weather are possible, including large hail, tornadoes and damaging winds.
Storms may start as early as 2 p.m. Wednesday in western Oklahoma.
Western Oklahoma is expected to see storms first Wednesday. Storms could develop as early as 2 p.m. Wednesday and are expected to move northwest at 30 to 35 miles per hour.
Storms will continue throughout the evening Wednesday and could linger into the early morning hours Thursday in eastern Oklahoma.

The tornado potential for Oklahoma on Wednesday is low.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Norman is expecting a low tornado potential across Oklahoma on Wednesday. Other threats include hail the size of baseballs and wind gusts over 70 miles per hour.
Areas along and west of I-44 are at an enhanced risk of severe weather Wednesday. Other portions of Oklahoma are at a slight or marginal risk.

More severe storms and fire weather expected through the weekend across Oklahoma.
Severe storms will continue into Thursday morning after Wednesday's storms. Elevated fire weather conditions are expected Thursday after storms clear. More severe weather is expected Friday, along with near-critical fire weather conditions.
Storms are expected to continue early Saturday morning in southeast Oklahoma. Sunday is expected to be clear of rain for Easter.
