January Is Wizarding Month & Chickasha Is In Full Swing

As you probably guessed from my top pick of favorite spots I visited in South Korea, wizarding is one of the funnest ways to escape reality, in my opinion. January is unofficially celebrated as "Wizarding month" for Harry Potter fans, and Chickasha, Oklahoma, is celebrating right alongside them.

It's cool when one business delves into the theme, but it's even better when the celebration becomes nearly town-wide. In Chickasha, at least six businesses are committed to making Wizarding Month something special this year.

Between unique (and limited-time) experiences, to merchandise you won't see any other time of the year, there are several ways those who love Harry Potter and wizardry can escape.

Escape through the Sorcerer's Secret at AdventureScape.

It's not enough just to celebrate "being a wizard." No, everyone deserves a chance to really feel like one, at least for a night. At AdventureScape escape rooms, they've created a challenging room for travelers to decipher codes, solve riddles, and master the powers of the five elemental symbols.

This hour-long escape room currently has a 53% success rate, so be sure to come prepared.

Devour wizard-themed food and beverages specially made at Ben & Jay's Pizzaria.

As much as we would love to see this celebration happen everywhere, only Ben Jay's location in Chickasha is participating in Wizarding Month.

But, between the food they always serve and the specials they've concocted just for this event, they've made the experience worth the trip for any travelers.

Conquer the Beanstack Challenge & read wizard books at the Chickash Public Library.

Admit it - it's been way too long since you've sat and actually read a book for fun. Luckily, the Chickasha Public Library has added a competitive edge to reading by partnering with Beanstack.

Readers can easily sign up (adults and children) and receive badges for each reading session they finish, from as short as 30 minutes all the way up until you finish the book.

Six total places in Chickasha have prepared something special for wizarding month. Not only will you be supporting small businesses, but you'll be allowing your own mind to let loose for a day, a night, or the entire month.
