It has been 16 NASCAR races since Jimmie Johnson and the # 48 Lowes Chevy got to victory lane. But that is exactly what he did Saturday Night in Darlington, South Carolina in the Bojangles' Southern 500 at the Darlington Raceway.

Johnson led 134 laps the most of any driver  last night at the Darlington Raceway . It was clear to everyone in the stands and the people watching on TV that the #48 Lowes Chevrolet is back and will be a force to be reckoned with the rest of the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

Johnson took over as the race leader for the first time on Lap 101 after his pit crew pulled off a near flawless pit stop and got him back out on the track in first place, and he never looked back. He raced to his  56th Cup win in his career. Johnson ever surpassed my all - time favorite driver Rusty Wallace.

This has been a crazy NASCAR season so far with not one driver wanting to take control of the points standings. Johnson is the eighth different winner in 11 Cup races in 2012, and after all the smoke cleared at Darlington, Greg Biffle remains the points leader holding onto his points lead  but only by two points over Matt Kenseth, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is in third just 14 points back, followed by Denny Hamlin and  Jimmie Johnson.

After the race Johnson had plenty to say in victory lane.
