Oklahoma Among List Of States Losing Major Craft Store Due To Bankruptcy
Unfortunately one of the major craft store chains across the country is filing for bankruptcy and closing doors to several locations, including three locations in Oklahoma. Craft lovers will only be limited to a handful of places to get their supplies locally and may have to resort to online purchases.
Three Locations of Joann's Craft Stores in Oklahoma Set To Close
Oklahoma currently has six locations of Joann's Craft stores in Lawton, Tulsa, Norman, Oklahoma City, Shawnee and Stillwater. However, three of these locations will be closing their doors soon due to the second bankruptcy the company filed for in March of 2024.
Last month, Joann's filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and on February 12, 2025, they filed a motion to begin closing over half of the 800 locations currently scattered across the country. Half of Oklahoma's locations will be closing soon, but there will still be three locations left.
Closing Joann's Locations in Oklahoma
The following locations in Oklahoma will be closed due to the bankruptcy:
- 449 NW 2nd Street Lawton, Oklahoma
- 519 N Main Street Stillwater, Oklahoma
- 4901 N. Kickapoo Street Shawnee, Oklahoma
The other Joann's stores in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Norman will remain open and hopefully help the company recover from the $1 billion debt.
The exact date of these store closings have not been announced yet. A hearing to consider the Bidding Procedures Motion (the “Bidding Procedures Hearing”) will be held on February 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. (ET) and the Meeting of Creditors (the "section 341 meeting") will be held telephonically on February 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. (ET).
