L.A. Reid Accused of Sexual Harassment Following Epic Records Exit
Sony Music Entertainment has had two executives leave the company since April, and there may have been sexual harassment accusations involved. First, Dr. Luke parted ways with Kemosabe Records, and his ability to represent Sony was revoked. The transitions came about amidst Dr. Luke's ongoing legal battle with Kesha, who claims she was "sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused" by him.
Now, it's come to light that L.A. Reid, who left his position as Epic Records chairman just last week, has also been accused of sexually harassing a coworker. Through a letter drafted by a lawyer, Variety reports, Reid's former employee detailed multiple occasions of inappropriate behavior. One such incident, says the New York Post, occurred when Reid (a married man) "asked her to lie down in bed with him and give him a hug while the two were at a hotel while traveling on business."
The Post additionally quotes an "insider familiar with Reid’s ouster" as saying, “We are not allowing a culture like that in this company, no matter how much a person brings to the bottom line.”
