Last Week For Waived Adoption Fees At Lawton Animal Welfare
The Lawton Animal Welfare is desperately needing to find homes for their animals, so they've been hosting a fee-free adoption event. This Saturday, July 19 is the last day for animal lovers to participate and take advantage. Currently, they have a multitude of cats, dogs and even two roosters available for adoption.
For those under 3 months old, the Welfare must charge a $17.25 deposit that is held until the animal receives their rabies vaccine. New parents can come back with the rabies certificate and receive their deposit back.
The Lawton Animal Welfare is located at 2104 SW 6th Street in Lawton, Oklahoma. They are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekly and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Unfortunately, they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Kennels are full and animals are ready for new homes.
Angela from the Lawton Animal Welfare recently did a walk-through of the adoptable animals at the shelter, explaining why they were doing a fee-free adoption event like this.
"Well, our kennels are full and our animals are adorable," she said. "I can't personally adopt 200 animals."
She showed off several of the puppies, kittens, dogs and cats currently being housed at the shelter. Their were animals of every age waiting to be adopted, but several puppies and kittens.
Welfare also helping to rehome two roosters to someone outside of city limits.
The Animal Welfare also helps care for and rehome animals that are not supposed to be in Lawton city limits. Recently, they offered two roosters to a good home for free, since Lawton citizens cannot have roosters. They explained in a comment via social media that "Lawton residents may have chickens, but not roosters."
As of writing this post, they've still had them up for adoption on their Facebook page. For those interested, please reach out to the Lawton Animal Welfare via phone at (580) 581-3219.
Do keep in mind that adopters for the roosters must not live in city limits. For general adoptions, you'll need to be at least 18 years old and be able to provide an I.D. when you fill out the paperwork.
Those that rent are also welcome to adopt, but will need to provide their landlord's contact information as part of the approval process.
