LATS Celebrates 20 years of Service in Lawton

Lawton Area Transit System will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of service to the Lawton area, April 25-30, with special events for each day!

For most of us that remember days before the bus system existed, it feels like it's only been a minute since they began filling the needs of residents to reach other parts of the city.

LATS is the public transportation system serving the City of Lawton, Oklahoma. LATS has been serving the residents of Lawton for over eighteen (18) years providing fixed route and para-transit service during those years. LATS is governed by the Trust, a body composed of the elected council members for Lawton. LATS has been managed on behalf of the Trust by HTG (Hendrickson Transportation Group). The buses move in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions along with the routes with a fifteen-minute separation between the directions of movement. LATS also operates a shuttle service to the Fort Sill Artillery Base. LATS operates a fixed route bus system five (5) days a week, being closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

To celebrate the anniversary, LATS has come up with fun activities that will commemorate each day of anniversary week!

Monday - Moving and Groovin: All operators will be wearing a
commemorative tie-dye t-shirt marking LATS 20th
anniversary. We will be handing out matching bracelets to
the public.
Tuesday - Brighten up your day: we will be giving free mini-
LATS flashlights out to the public.
Wednesday- They said it couldn’t be done: Come and
celebrate with us at the Lawton Farmers Market on
Wednesday, April 27th at 10 am. We will honor individuals who
have been part of the team since the beginning and some
others that continue to make it successful.
Thursday- Wearing a smile for every mile: Free keychains will
be given away to the public.
Friday- Finish line: The public will be able to enter to win a
$100 gift card. Please scan QR code (found on our buses,
website, and Facebook page) to register.
Saturday- Customer Appreciation Day: Fun activities and
food will take place at our downtown transfer center from
11am till 3pm.
