Oklahoma State Troopers Rescue Loose Chickens On The Highway
They say there's always a first time for everything. This past week was probably the first time (documented) that Tulsa, Oklahoma had loose chickens on the highway. Luckily, thanks to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and a civilian, they were safely removed out of harms way.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Facebook post, State Trooper Carlos Zavala #343 saw a woman trying to corral one of these chickens that came loose from a makeshift trailer. This was just one chicken of many that "were scattered across the roadway from 165th E. Ave. to 145th E. Ave, over a mile stretch."
If you're familiar with catching chickens, you know that it requires a certain kind of finesse and quickness and that's without the extra weight. So the fact these troopers were able to get the chickens caught in no time without any casualties is pretty remarkable.
Luckily, the comment section is alight with support and a few jokes that are, thankfully, better than a few "why'd the chicken cross the road" comments.
Jokes aside, though, the makeshift trailer could've caused several accidents. For the record, if an animal gets loose on your account on the highway in Oklahoma, you're responsible for the damages that your animals cause. If your animal causes a wreck, you could be held liable for the damages.
And that's not just the case for animals breaking out of their trailers. If you're animal breaks loose from your fence or enclosure, you're the one responsible for whatever damages they cause while out.
Have you checked your fence lately?
