Louis Tomlinson Reportedly Arrested For Assaulting Paparazzo: Read His Team’s Statement
UPDATE (3/5): Louis Tominson's representatives have issued a statement to TMZ regarding the singer's arrest following a scuffle with paparazzi in Los Angeles.
"The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis," the statement reads. "It's not the first time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity. While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defense."
ORIGINAL STORY: Louis Tomlinson was reportedly arrested Friday night (March 3) after an altercation with a Los Angeles paparazzo turned physical.
According to TMZ, the incident took place near the baggage claim area at LAX. Sources claim that a photographer "was too close for Louis' comfort, so he allegedly pulled the photog to the floor by his legs," resulting in the paparazzo falling backwards and smashing his head on the floor.
Tomlinson was apparently accompanied by a woman who also got into an altercation with a witness who had been recording the scene.
Tomlinson was allegedly arrested for battery and booked at a nearby LAPD jail.
In 2016, the One Direction member wrote an open letter to members of the paparazzi, in which he pleaded for the privacy of his child, Freddie Reign.
"The persistent and increasing levels of paparazzi and media intrusions into Freddie’s life of late are not only posing potential security issues but are also crucially invading the privacy to which Freddie is undoubtedly entitled as a child," he wrote. "The levels of paparazzi attention on Freddie are intolerable and completely unjustifiable."
