On Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5, the Xtreme Bulls Lawton and Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is hosting one of the most intense events in Lawton, Oklahoma at the Comanche County Fairgrounds in the Great Plains Coliseum.

PRCA & Xtreme Bulls Lawton coming next week to Great Plains Coliseum.

Rodeo lovers will be able to enjoy the "ultimate bullriding experience" in southwest Oklahoma at what they're calling the "Xtreme Bulls" event. The country's strongest riders will have two days to compete with the PRCA's toughest bulls to ride. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

Spectators will have more to enjoy than just the rides - rodeo clowns always make the bullriding experience hilarious and unforgettable for any and all ages.

Our nation's soldiers and military personnel are highly respected in the rodeo world, which is why miiltary members are able to purchase general admission tickets for $10 at the door (with a military ID).

If you've never been to a rodeo, or a bull riding event, there are a few things to know beforehand.

Judges score rides for both the cowboy and the bull at bullriding events.

Obviously, we want the cowboy to stay on for the full 8 seconds, until the buzzer goes off in the arena. But judges watch how the cowboy is riding and score their ride based on:

  • Control
  • Balance
  • Quick reflexes
  • Rider's style

They also consider factors like how difficult the bull is to ride and how they attempt to buck the rider off. Sometimes, if the bull stumbles or doesn't offer the rider a challenging enough ride, the judges may offer the rider a re-ride.

Basic Do's & Dont's for rodeos & bullriding events.

Rodeo is very popular in Oklahoma and if you want to enjoy it, you'll want to make sure you know some of the "ins and outs." When you're there at the Great Plains Coliseum, remember:

  • Don't touch the animals.
  • Cheering and applauding is ENCOURAGED! Get rowdy!
  • Don't bring animals that are not service trained.
  • Most importantly: have fun!
