Medicine Park is widely known across the nation because of their trademark cobblestones that line the roads, businesses and homes in the town. One of the most important projects that the city has been working on is almost finished, they just need the final cobblestone touch.

Rather than just slapping them on themselves, city representatives came up with a more interactive idea. They asked community members to come get hands-on with the bathroom project by Bath Lake by learning to lay the cobblestone themselves.

The new bathrooms will hopefully be ready in time for one of the largest festivals coming up soon in Medicine Park.

Learn to lay cobblestone from a professional mason this August.

Many folks love the cobblestones in Medicine Park and on the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge so much, that sometimes they're tempted to take a few home for themselves. However, it is considered illegal to remove the stones from Medicine Park. Likewise, visitors are also prohibited from taking anything from the Wildlife Refuge.

But the Medicine Park officials know how important and interesting they are to the community, so they want to give everyone a chance to learn about laying them, themselves.

On Saturday, August 16, a qualified master mason will be teaching community members how to lay these cobblestones on the new bathrooms being built by the Bath Lake area.

Things will start around 8 a.m. to beat the heat. Lunch and supplies will be provided, as well. All you will need to help with this project is your hands and a good attitude.

You know what they say - the more hands you have, the less work you're dealt. Although the city could opt to complete the project themselves, they wanted to get more folks involved. It also makes sense to get the project done quickly before the Mayor's Blues Ball gets here this Labor Day weekend.
