Mike Rowe Headed to Oklahoma to Film Latest TV Show

Looks like Mike Rowe is headed for Oklahoma.

The host best known for the popular TV series, Dirty Jobs, is now hosting a program called The Story Behind the Story. The series is based on his podcast, The Way I Heard It. The show airs on Saturday nights at 8:00 pm Central on TBN.

The TBN website describes the show as Rowe telling stories you may not know about famous people:

Based on Mike’s wildly popular podcast ‘The Way I Heard It,’ he tells true stories you don’t know, about some famous people you probably do. From code breakers to Hollywood bombshells, unlikely inventors to naked bank robbers, Mike sits down with TBN President Matt Crouch to reveal the story behind the story… and perhaps a moral or two…Join Mike Rowe for a different take on the people and events that you thought you knew!

The show will be filming in Bartlesville on Friday and then will film in Guthrie and Kingfisher next week, according to KTUL.

This season will contain 13 episodes, scanning the course of over 100 years. Rowe will be telling the stories of the Founding Fathers, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rock and Roll legends, and more.

Rowe got his start in TV in 1990 when he auditioned for QVC Shopping Channel to settle a bet. After eight years with QVC, he was fired for “ridiculing products and belittling listeners.”

He worked as a freelancer throughout the 90s before finally landing the Dirty Jobs gig, which made his popularity skyrocket.
