When musicians perform, they aren't just thinking about how much they're getting paid at the end of the night or how much they have in the tip jar. Some really significant game changers for a good show are:

• the accessibility to the stage
• the environment
• the audience/clientel
• view towards music or musicians
• sound and equipment
• availability

We all know that some venues hire live music as a filler for the evening, that the main reason folks come to their establishment for the food or the prices rather than the live music. But there are also venues that encourage their listeners to hone in on the performers, making them feel more comfortable to be themselves.

The good news about this list is that, for folks who just want to enjoy music, you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get in. These are also places that more than likely won't charge a cover or don't always require big ticket prices for seats. That's not to say that we don't aspire for the big time stages, but not everyone in the music game gets the big prize, so to speak.
