Normani Dazzles With Early 2000s Vibes With ‘Motivation’ Performance at 2019 MTV VMAs
Normani served up a show-stopping performance of her hit single "Motivation" at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night (August 26).
Her performance began with her atop of a basketball hoop, with fireworks going off. Halfway through her electric performance, a dancer ripped off her jacket to reveal a 1996 (her birth year) top similar to the one worn in her "Motivation" music video.
She then performed one of the most spectacular dance breaks featuring a back walkover and jump splits that took fans’ breath away.
After her performance, "Normani" trended worldwide on Twitter. Fans shared the video of her epic solo dance break and recalled Nicki Minaj's comment about Normani, in which the rapper said "she's that b---h."
Tonight marked the first solo performance on an awards show for the pop star. She previously performed at the 2017 VMAs where Fifth Harmony famously threw shade at former member Camila Cabello, who left the group in 2016.
During the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Normani and Khalid performed their collaboration, "Love Lies."
