Moviemakers Pride Oklahoma As One Of The Best Places To Live & Work
Last year's Twisters debut really set the stage for some incredible movie-making magic in Oklahoma. Not only did the movie put Oklahoma on the map for many producers and filmmakers, but it really spurred the state to start investing more into the movie market in general. Maybe that's why this year, two major locations in Oklahoma ranked as some of the best spots in the U.S. big cities to work and live as a move maker.
Tulsa and Oklahoma City Among Top 15 Best Big Cities For Filmmakers
Movie Maker Magazine's Editor-in-Chief Tim Malloy ranked the top 25 major cities across the United States for movie makers to live and do their work, excluding Los Angeles and New York City. On his list, Oklahoma appears twice: Tulsa sits at number 15 and Oklahoma City is at 13.
Malloy writes about one of the most recent benefits for movie makers to bring their film making skills to the Oklahoma state capital. "There are a wealth of cityscapes and landscapes to go around," he said. "The area also includes attractive state tax incentives like Oklahoma’s 20-30% cash rebate and an additional local incentive of 5-10% that can be stacked on top."
Not only does Oklahoma City make it profitable to do business as a movie maker, but they make it relatively easy, as Malloy pointed out. Both Oklahoma City and Tulsa have an overwhelming amount of filmmaking crew members ready to get on set and make a movie.

Locations like Tulsa have also proven to make steller settings for quite a few great films already like Sylvester Stallone's Tulsa King, Where The Red Fern Grows and the recent work Killers of the Flower Moon.
In fact, there have been several successful movies shot in Oklahoma from as early as the 1940s. Classics such as The Outsiders, Tulsa, Twister, August: Osage County and so many more never would've been as great as they were had they not been set right here in Oklahoma.
As for more recent works, Oklahoma has seen a few more projects started, but we're hoping to see a few more additions to the list of upcoming movie releases.
