One of the most popular zoos in Oklahoma is getting geared up for fall and for Halloween. While offering a few specials to make your visit a bit cheaper, they're also bringing you new opportunities this October at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Pumpkin Drive Until October 4

They announced their Pumpkin Drive back in September, but it's still happening until tomorrow, October 4. If you bring a pumpkin larger than your head, you can get half off the same-day general admission ticket.

Native Species Experience Saturday, October 5

From 9a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 5, the OKC Zoo will be celebrating Native Species Awareness Day by showing visitors animal enrichment opportunities and allowing them to learn more about how to care for the animals from the caretakers. Since the event is meant to celebrate the native species of Oklahoma, the event will only be happening at the Oklahoma Trails habitats.

Not only will the Oklahoma Zoo experts give visitors a chance to help with a science experiment and tag monarch butterflies, but the Oklahoma Zoological Society will offer plush native animal species adoptions. For $25, you'll be able to "adopt" your own plush version of coyotes, otters, grizzly bears and more.

The proceeds will be going towards helping the Nature Conservancy. The activities for Native Species Awareness Day is included in the general admission for the Zoo.

The 41st Annual Haunt The Zoo Experience

Every year, the Oklahoma City Zoo goes all out for the folks who love spooky season. The zoo staff make your tour through the zoo a true Halloween experience while still allowing to to enjoy the animals.

They'll set up unique photo ops, scatter props throughout the zoo and have spooky decor along the routes. Trick -or-treaters, of course, get goodies from volunteers while walking the trail.

The Haunt The Zoo experience kicks of Saturday, October 5 and the trick-or-treating happens every Saturday and Sunday from 9a.m. to 4p.m. until October 27, 2024. Everyone is encouraged to wear your best costumes - including the adults (nothing too scary, though). You will have to have the Haunt The Zoo trick-or-treat bag to participate, which costs $7 for ZOOFriends members and $8 for non-members. The link to purchase is here.
