Donate Items To Deployed Soldiers For The Holiday Season
Unfortunately, there are around 400 hundred soldiers currently deployed and will not be able to spend the holidays with their loved ones. One of Oklahoma's largest military towns is collecting item to send to the soldiers and let them know that they're all on our minds.

Southwest Oklahoma is home to many military members and their families, namely Lawton. This year, Lawton's Chamber of Commerce wanted to do something special for soldiers that are overseas during the holidays. In a Facebook post, they asked Oklahomans who can donate to do so.
"Let’s show our deployed Fort Sill 31st Air Defense Artillery unit support and come together to let our soldiers know that their Lawton Fort Sill community is remembering them and sending love from home this holiday season," they said. "Drop your donated items no later than 5PM this Thursday at the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce or let us know if you need them picked up."
These items don't have to be expensive or ornate, but are incredibly helpful for soldiers' morale while overseas. The Chamber asked for items such as:
- Protein Snacks
- Small lotions
- Lens wipes
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Beefsticks and jerky
- Games and adult coloring books
It's important to remember: do not donate chocolate or crayons since these items melt... and other reasons (marines).

They also welcomed schools to have their students make hand-made Christmas cards and deliver them to the Chamber before Thursday as well.
