People All Over The U.S. Are Flocking To Oklahoma
Last year, Oklahoma saw a huge spike in people interested in leaving the state shortly after the presidential election. However, recent data from U-Haul shows that, even if people are leaving, there are many more taking their place.
Oklahoma Might Be Seeing People Leave, But More Are Moving In
U-Haul's Growth Index map shows not only the people moving away, but those planting their roots here in Oklahoma, as well. In 2024, Oklahoma's ranking jumped 30 spots, placing the sooner state's Growth Rate at Number 11. Those numbers are crystal clear: people are flocking to our state. Most who are moving here are coming from the west, namely California and some from Texas.
Oklahoma's arrival rate sits at an astounding 50.4%, making up for the 49.6% departure percentage. Thanks to ChatGPT, we can put it into simpler terms: for every 62 people leaving, 63 more are taking their spot in Oklahoma.
Is Growth in Oklahoma A Good Thing?
Depending on who you ask, growth is a great thing for Oklahoma. For instance, Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell commented on the jump that Oklahoma saw on the U-Haul Growth Index in 2024.
"Oklahoma offers the true American dream that families and young professionals want, and it shows through the way they’re flocking to our state," he said. "Let's keep that growth going in 2025 and beyond."
With the influx of people, hopefully we see a spark in new businesses, services and other opportunities to bring financial growth for our state, too. We do have a lot to look forward in Oklahoma for 2025 already; maybe the growth jump means there'll be more added to the list.
Since 2021, Oklahoma has been seeing some historical growth for the state. Do you think the trend with carry on for another year? Tell us your comments through the app now.
