Oklahoma Highway Patrol Unveils New Look For Select Trooper Vehicles
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has been sporting the all-black look for quite some time, but it looks like some of their vehicles are in for a new style.
They announced that some of their units will have a new look that, in a way, calls back to the old traditional black and white pattern that old police cars used to have.
While it may not look black and white in daylight, the new reflective properties make the gray color appear white when headlights are shined on the paint. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol logo and "State Trooper" signage will still be displayed on the sides of the vehicle like they are now.
While some are excited to see the change, some folks are skeptical of the new design.
Way back in 2010, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol attempted to save some of their expenses by starting to use solid black patrol cars. But they've always had a love for the old school traditional look.
At the time, it was meant to save around $700 per vehicle, according to the Oklahoman, but they would eventually return back to the traditional black and white scheme "once the state's economic situation improved."
Well, it looks like we've finally seen the transition start, but it won't be for all vehicles.
For now, they're only using a select few units to sport this new design until they've all made the change in the look.
While some folks say that the signature markings aren't as clearly displayed, others say they can see it plain-as-day in the preview video the Troopers released on social media.
