New Live Music Venue in Harrah, Oklahoma Bringing Back Old Red Dirt Vibes Again

You'd think that after the incredible Boys From Oklahoma show earlier this year, there'd be a spike in the live music scene here. But, the show couldn't do much for several of the venues who've closed their doors for the last time.

However, we are lucky enough to see one venue open up earlier this month. To say they've had some incredible success is an understatement. In my personal opinion, this venue went from "brand new" to reaching the same esteem level as the Blue Note in Oklahoma City or Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa.

The new owner, Kenzie, has been working on renovating what was once a movie theater built in 1939 into a brand new live music venue in Harrah, Oklahoma. Check out the buzz about the new family-friendly, all ages hang-out place called Okie State Room.

There are different kinds of "live music venues" out there.

Some are like concert venues, that are really targeted more towards a concert experience, such as the Diamond Ballroom in Tulsa. Then, you have listening rooms that allow for a more intimate experience with artists and their audiences, like the Blue Door.

Lastly, when I think of live music venues, I think of places that include music in the restaurant experience, like Ole Red's in Tishomingo. Okie State Room seems to take that experience and up the ante a notch or two.

If anyone in Lawton remembers the days of Chits House of Cool, this place matches their quality and vibes, but with the support of a small town like Harrah.

Currently, they are considered an all ages venue, smoke-less for most of their shows, but guests are encouraged to check show details for individual shows.

Hopefully, if they continue to bring in big names like Cody Hibbard and Justin Boltonen and provide a healthy, professional experience for Oklahoma's local live music scene, the live music lovers will continue to support them.

Let's hope this is a start of seeing more live music in Oklahoma, because the list of the best venues in the state is kind of a short one.
