Oklahoma Sooner Fans Could See History in the Making This Weekend!
It doesn't matter if you have never been a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners or not, you have an opportunity this weekend to watch an event that has only come around 3 times in history! This year may be the year that both Oklahoma Women's Softball and Oklahoma Men's Baseball win the College World Series in their sport in the same year!
History in the Making
The last time that both the Men's and Women's programs were in the College World Series, was in 2011 with Florida losing on both sides. The only other time was just a year earlier in 2010, with UCLA winning the Women's World Series, and the Men falling after 11 innings of play to South Carolina.
It's pretty easy to love the Cinderella story of Women's Softball at OU, led by the monster Home Run Queen Jocelyn Alo, and with back-to-back WWS wins, it makes the fact that the Sooner men making it to the playoffs that much more exciting.
Here's the Men's Bracket and Schedule
I have lived in Oklahoma since 1972 and was just a teenager when we got here. I didn't really appreciate college sports until much later in life when I actually had time to enjoy it. I like football, and love watching the Sooners play during the season, but the last two years watching Women's Softball was just as exciting. Now with the prospect of having a historical event happening for our state. Well, that's just magic.
The games will be carried on ESPN, with the first game, Saturday, June 25 at 6 pm. The second of 3 games is Sunday, June 26 at 2 pm, and the 'if' game is Monday, June 27, at 6 pm.
When was the last time you saw history in the making? Well, you don't want to miss this opportunity!
