If the punishment should fit the crime, then Hollywood's fat cats deserve far worse than the time-outs they're getting, Rose McGowan has said.

The actress and filmmaker, who's not been shy in recent months about sharing her views on Hollywood's dark side, tweeted an open letter to movie execs last night (October 17). In her message, McGowan accuses the industry's top execs of being soft on sexual assault and rape culture, and urges them to hold perpetrators of assault accountable.

"Do not work with those you know to be offenders or you are no better than they," McGowan pleads in the message. "Take a stand."

"You are culpable for your actions," she continues. "Stop rewarding sociopaths. Every time you sanction abhorrent behavior, you are aiding and abetting a crime, that makes you no better than the criminal...Why are you so cowardly that you would take the softer, easier way out?"

Just last week, McGowan opened up about her own sexual assault in light of recent accusations that Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump has a history of demoralizing women. She said because she'd filmed a sex scene once upon a time, she was told by an industry official that no one would believe her case, which she'd made against a studio head.

"#WhyWomenDontReport…because it’s been an open secret in Hollywood/Media & they shamed me while adulating my rapist," she tweeted.
