It was in March of 2020 that the country came together in a collective movement of solidarity to combat the coronavirus. Everyone was scared, it was marketed by the news media as a death sentence, so we all decided we'd just stay at home as much as possible for the next month or so. One thing that really dried up fast was Critter and I's normal once or twice a week lunch haunt, an ultra-affordable bite to eat at Sam's Club.

I don't think anyone would argue that the Sam's Club deli has, and I'm going to say it, the best pizza in Lawton. It's always on point, always looks and tastes the same, the chewy crust, stretchy cheese, mass toppings... You cannot beat Sam's Club deli pizza by the slice with a drink for two and a half bucks. You may not agree, and I wouldn't myself if Pizza Time were still slinging zza's, but they're gone and Sam's Club is king... or at least, they were king of pizza up until the point of rona when they opted to close the deli.

So I see something on facebook about Sam's handing out samples again and I know, I have to investigate. I need water anyway so I popped over there and sure enough, there are a couple of sample stands staffed with those trademark green aprons handing out the snacks. This is a turning point in the war on covid. We're at a point now where Sam's Club is starting to come back to normal again. It's only a matter of time before we get our lunch spot back again, and I couldn't be more excited.... well, unless they put the actual Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs back in the deli instead of the imposter Member's Mark sausages... then all would be right in the world. Regardless, I think this is a pandemic milestone we can collectively celebrate. Hazaa.

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
